I was told a long time ago to use a paddle brush but I am thinking I shouldn't anymore. What type of brush is best for long, really thick hair?

I use this brush called the goody no tangles brush or something like that. It's a blue brush with vents. It's good for thick hair of any length just because it gets through tangles we tend to get without pain. But paddle brushes are definitely good.

Use any kind of brush. Just not a comb... it doesn't work well. Use any brush you need for the type of style your going for. I don't know if there's a specific NAME for it, but just a regular brush works fine.

I have very thick long hair that's wavy. I would never use a pick or a comb. I have a large square shaped brush with plastic bristles and little tips on the end. I've found that animal hair brushes put static in my hair. I've been using brushes like the one I have for years, and they gets all the tangles out, plus smooth my hair nicely. I get a new one about once a yeard.

If you're having troubles with tangles, maybe you need to switch your conditioner. I like Nexxus Humunctress. That and a big wide brush ought to do the trick.
